Urdd Cam i’r Bannau Trail Run

RESULTS: click 5k or 10k to download race results

This year we are helping raise funds for Ysgol Y Bannau & Cylch Chwarae Aberhonddu.

We will be holding the second Cam i’r Bannau off road race.  There will be 5k (ish) and 10k (ish) routes that take in some stunning views across The Brecon Beacons.  Please come along and give it a go.  All abilities welcome.

When is the race?

The race will be held on Sunday 28th October 2018

5k and 10 k races start at 11am.

All runners must register and collect numbers by 10:30

The Route

The races start and finish at the Brecon Beacons National Park Visitors’ Centre - known locally as “The Mountain Centre”.

The Routes are undulating and follow grassy paths across the common land. We have chosen routes that allow runners to enjoy the spectacular scenery of The Beacons, without having run up anything too steep!   The 10k route is more challenging and takes in the trig point on Mynydd Illtyd.  Routes will be marked and marshalled so you won’t need to navigate. I have never raced before, can I do it?

YES ABSOLUTELY! - We welcome all abilities, from first time racers, to experienced club runners.  We’ll have plenty of absolute beginners taking part, so please come along and have a go.  If you are at all worried then please feel free to drop us an email with any questions.

How can I enter?

Please enter in advance using our on-line entry system… (Click Here) or post the paper entry (Click Here). By completing this in advance you guarantee a place. Cash payment can then be made when you pick up your race number at the start.

We may still have places available for on the day entry, but we can’t guarantee that, and as we have a maximum runners limit, you may miss out!

Registration will take place at the Mountain Centre: 10:15 - 10:45.

How much does it cost?

Club runners - £13

Non-club runners - £15                             All entries on the day - £15

What should I wear?

It is October, so bear that in mind when choosing your race gear.  Make sure you are prepared and wearing clothing that suits you.  Everyone is different, so don’t feel pressured into wearing too little or too much by the people around you.  It is however essential that you have warm dry kit to put on when you finish.  As the route is not on roads we would advise some sort of trail shoe.  You won’t need anything too ‘aggressive’.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. WAA rules insist minimum age for

5k runners is 14.

For 10k runners 17

All runners under 18 will need the (signed) consent of an adult to take part.

THESE AGE LIMITS ARE A CONDITION OF WELSH ATHLETIC INSURANCE AND ARE NOT FLEXIBLE.

Will I get a medal?

Yes.  All finishers will get a race medal.  Overall winners and category winners will also receive additional prizes.

Are there kids’ races?

Yes there will be short children’s race at The Mountain Centre.  Everyone under 14 is welcome to take part.  All kids races are entry on the day.
