Ras i’r Bannau is a friendly 5k race that takes place in Brecon each summer.  The race raises money for Cylch Meithrin Aberhonddu. As well as the main race, there are kids’ races, pony rides, refreshments and general fun!  Please come along with the family even if you don’t intend to race.

When is it?

This year’s race will be held on Sunday 25th June 2017. Starts at 11am. You will need to be there at 10:30 to register & collect your number.

The route

The race starts and finishes at Brecon Athletics track.  Apart from a small track section at the end, the route takes place on roads.  It is slightly undulating, with one ‘proper hill’. Route Map

I’ve never raced before.  Can I do it?

YES ABSOLUTELY! - We welcome all abilities, from first time racers, to experienced club runners.  We have plenty of absolute beginners taking part.  Many previous year’s runners have got the running bug following their first go, and have gone on to bigger and faster things.

How do I enter?

The best way to enter is via our online entry form where you can chose to pay via Paypal.  You don’t need a Paypal account, you can do it as a ‘guest’.  The deadline is June 16th.

Postal entries are also fine.  You can print off the word document and return it to; Becca Jones, Brynich Farm, Brynich, Brecon, LD3 7SH along with a cheque made payable to Cylch Chwarae Aberhonddu.  The deadline in June 16th.

Entries on the day are also available if there are places remaining. Please be aware though, that we can’t guarantee you a finisher’s prize if you enter on the day.

How much does it cost?                            Club runners - £10

Non-club runners - £12                             All entries on the day - £12

Is there a minimum age?

Yes.  All 5k runners must be over 11.  All runners under 18 will need the (signed) consent of an adult to take part.

Will I get a medal?

Yes.  All finishers will get a race medal and a handy water bottle as a prize.  Overall winners and category winners will also receive additional prizes.

Are there kids’ races?
