Hi I'm Jo. I am the secretary and registered person for Cylch Meithrin Abehonddu. I first got involved with Cylch Meithrin when my oldest son was about 10 months old. We had recently moved to Brecon and because I work full time I felt that this would be a way of meeting other local parents. As I was unable to support Cylch Meithrin in it's day to day running I hoped that I could contribute behind the scenes by becoming involved with the committee. Bilingualism is something I have always been interested in but have never had the opportunity to be part of, having been brought up in England. It's been a fantastic experience to be involved with this excellent nursery and I truly believe that giving my sons the opportunity to be able to be part of the Welsh language, culture and heritage from such a young age has proved beneficial to our family life. I am now learning Welsh myself (although more slowly than the boys are picking it up!). I hope that we can continue to grow the Cylch in a way which reflects the needs and expectations of the local community.

Treasurer: Toni Borgia

Hi. I am a trustee and the treasurer of Cylch Meithrin Aberhonddu. I first got involved with Meithrin when my eldest daughter was two and started attending Cylch Meithrin. At that point I was just interested in seeing what she was up to and meeting the staff. While I was pregnant with my third child the post of treasurer became vacant and I figured that with all this baby leave I wanted to give some time back and keep my brain active as well! My son has now started in Meithrin and is having such fun. Both my husband and I are English and it wasn't until I had the kids that I started learning Welsh myself. Meithrin and then Ysgol y Bannau have allowed us to give the gift of a second language to our children without the struggle that I experienced with learning at secondary school. Over the years I have seen Meithrin change, responding to the changing needs to the families in this area. I want to see Meithrin continue nurturing, supporting and encouraging Brecon children for years to come.
